Connecting with Families who need an IndeeLift
Michael Martin | IndeeLift
Recently, IndeeLift was showcased at the Abilities Expo, where attendees with various neuromuscular conditions were able to see and test our human floor lift and transfer aid. It was an honor to demonstrate a life-changing tool to the many individuals and their caregivers who struggle daily with what to do when they fall and/or have difficulty transferring to various seat heights.
Expos like these reaffirm that people who live with neuromuscular diseases often need help with getting up after a fall or with mobility such as moving from a couch to a wheelchair. Traditional lifts, such as sling type lifts or inflatable cushions can be bulky, cumbersome, expensive, and may not be suitable for home use. In addition, they can be difficult to maneuver and typically require at least two people to operate. This can be a barrier to independence for many individuals with neuromuscular diseases, who simply want to live as independently as possible and maintain their dignity.
The Solution
IndeeLift was designed to provide a practical and affordable solution for individuals who tend to fall or cannot get up from a kitchen chair or couch. The IndeeLift is portable, easy to use and can be self-operated or with caregiver assistance, depending on the user’s mobility level. IndeeLift has many customers who live by themselves, and crawl or scoot to the unit after a fall. It does not require installation or special training, making it an ideal choice for home use. In addition, the device can be easily transported where needed and has a small footprint that easily fits through doorways and moves within small spaces like a bathroom.
IndeeLift in Action
In Spain, there is a young individual who has difficulty standing when on the floor or from a seat. As he has grown over the years, it has become a challenge for the parents to lift him. A common scenario for tens of thousands of families worldwide. With IndeeLift, it has relieved parents (as documented by this home video), who are often the caregivers, for attempting to manually pick up their children. Such a relief.
Abilities Expo
At the Abilities Expo (which I highly recommend attending if there is one near you), attendees were impressed with IndeeLift’s simplicity and effectiveness. They gave us great feedback and thought the device was easy to operate and such a simple solution to help with their, sometimes-daily, mobility challenges. They also appreciated the device’s affordability, as traditional lifts can be expensive and may not be covered by Medicare.
IndeeLift has found a great partner with the Abilities Expo team who consistently offer communities access to the latest devices, support, and solutions to improve their daily living, independence, and dignity. This is a mission IndeeLift can get behind!
